VARDYN was founded by Dr Anh Nguyen — a plastic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience treating skin cancers in hospitals, clinics, and surgical theatres.
After seeing too many patients arrive too late, she built VARDYN to change the standard — combining world-class imaging, intelligent analysis, and specialist care into one system that finds what matters, sooner.
Dr Nikki Stamp
Dr Nikki Stamp FRACS is a cardiothoracic surgeon, trained across Australia and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Throughout her surgical training, she gained experience across multiple specialties, including plastic surgery, general surgery and orthopaedics.
A strong advocate for preventative health care, Dr Stamp understands firsthand the impact of late cancer detection. As a surgeon who treats cancers including skin cancers on the chest wall or when they involve the lungs, she is deeply aware of the importance of early detection and timely treatment.
A keen swimmer who grew up under the harsh Australian sun, Dr Stamp is passionate about smarter, more proactive ways to care for skin health and brings her surgical and clinical expertise to VARDYN.
Dr Ruth Blackham
Dr Ruth Blackham FRACS is a specialist surgeon, trained across Australia and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She is also a bariatric surgeon and weight loss specialist, providing both evidence-based weight loss medications and metabolic surgery to support patients’ long-term health.
A strong advocate for preventative care, Dr Blackham is passionate about helping people act early—before a “small concern” becomes a big problem. As, she’s seen how easy it is to dismiss a changing spot or delay a check “until later”, and she’s committed to making early detection simple, accessible, and proactive.

What happens during a VARDYN assessment?
You’ll undergo a full-body 3D scan using the VECTRA WB360 system. The scan takes seconds and captures high-resolution images of your entire skin surface. A trained clinician then reviews your images and discusses any findings with you.
How does the scanner work?
An array of cameras captures simultaneous images from multiple angles, creating a detailed 3D map of your skin. Clinicians can zoom in, compare scans over time, and detect changes invisible to the naked eye.
Why is this better than a standard skin check?
Most skin checks rely on visual inspection alone, which can miss subtle or hard-to see lesions. VARDYN creates a complete digital record, allowing precise tracking of changes over time—especially valuable for people with many moles, sun damage, or family history of melanoma.
Is the scan safe?
Yes. The VECTRA WBI360 uses standard photography—no radiation, no UV light. It’s completely non-invasive and safe for regular monitoring, including during pregnancy.
Who isn't suitable for a scan?
The scanning process involves bright photographic flashes and standing in a fixed position briefly. For individuals with photosensitive epilepsy or vertigo, this may cause discomfort. Our team is happy to discuss whether the scan is appropriate for you before your appointment.
How long does it take?
The scan itself takes seconds. Your full appointment—including preparation and clinical review—typically takes 30-45 minutes.
What should I wear?
Minimal underwear (G-string or similar) to maximize skin coverage. Remove all jewellery, makeup, fake tan, moisturizer, and sunscreen before your appointment.

What if something suspicious is found?
Your clinician will recommend further investigation—typically a punch biopsy or excision. These procedures can often be performed on-site under local anesthetic, with results available within days.
How often should I be scanned?
Most patients benefit from annual scans. If you have a strong family history, previous skin cancers, or high sun exposure, more frequent monitoring may be recommended.
Do I need a referral?
You don’t need a referral for the VECTRA WB360 skin scan.
If you’d like to see a specialist afterward, you can book an appointment without a referral — but you’ll need a referral from your GP if you want to claim the Medicare rebate.
What does it cost?
Pricing depends on your chosen clinician level and any procedures required. Medicare rebates may apply for medically necessary GP or specialist consultations and biopsies. Preventative scans are typically not covered. Exact fees are provided at booking.
